I am moving my blog to Facebook.

Hey Everyone! I am moving my blog to Facebook because it is just easier to update information via my phone. I have transferred all the past posts into pdf files , and loaded it onto the Facebook page.

Hope to see you there!

Stress like you have never ever...Ever experienced before!

Its been so long since my last update, mainly due to the incredible toll this whole immigration process takes on you. I find it very difficult to stay positive and focused. While going through all of this, one must be so careful not to fall into a state of depression. You just have to roll with the punches.

Because I am the mail applicant I had to do a skills assessment with ANMAC. This was fairly straight forward except for the fact that I had to arrange for another certificate of good standing to be sent from SANC to ANMAC. Yup thats right... another R1650 and another 8 weeks of waiting. In addition to that, I also had to request for a certificate of good standing to be sent from AHPRA to ANMAC. That was about R500 and 1 week of waiting. FYI, I can't wait for the day that I don't have to interact with any South African government institutions!!! My skills assessment was finalized on 22 November 2016. I was so happy. I though oh well everything was done and that I was ready to apply for my 189 visa... surprise, surprise... Because of the fact that nursing was my second degree, I lost some points on work experience. I had a total of 55 points. For the 189 visa for nursing you require at least 60. My only option was to rewrite IELTS and obtain superior english. So to make a Loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooonnnnggggggggggggggg strory short, 1 Pearson test and 7 IELTS tests later, with other words, R25100 later I finally managed to obtain superior English on 13 may 2017 (I only received my results on the 26th of May though). Because of the extra 20 points, I managed to have 65 point. I immediately updated my skillselect account. We received an Invite 5 days later. So now our timeline looks as follows:

  • Invite: 3 June 2017
  • Application Lodged: 14 June 2017 (All documents uploaded except medicals)
  • Medicals:11 July 2017
  • CO contacted for extra documents: 7 August 2017 (28 days given to respond)

~Extra documents:

1) A letter of good conduct from my husband's company.
2) A Panama pcc for my husband. We weren't sure why this was asked, because my husband (he is a Sailor) has never been onshore Panama, nor has he sailed on a Panama flagged ship for a period of 12 months or longer. As per the DIBP you only have to provide pcc for countries which you have been in for 12 months or longer in the past 10 years. My husband has only sailed on 2 Panama flagged ships for an accumulative period of 11 months and 5 days. We were unable to obtain a Panama pcc.
We uploaded the letter of good conduct, the correspondence with the Panama consulate, in which they stated that they won't be able to assist us, and a letter of consideration which I wrote. The letter explains why we were unable to obtain the pcc, and it requests the DIBP to be considerate with regards to our circumstances.

  • Extra documentation uploaded 19 Aug
  • Current application status: Assessment in progress

It is the 6th of September and we are so stressed and so completely freaked out. But as I said...just roll with the punches... I really really really hope we will hear something soon.

Cheers!

I AM REGISTERED!!!!!

After almost 20 months of hard work, severe stress, sweat & tears...and a bit of fun (While in Aus), I am finally a Registered Nurse in Australia. I was super happy and relaxed for about 30min till I started stressing again about my immigration process, and what had to be done for my skills assessment by ANMAC. Later more about that..

On the previous post, I was complaining about the fact that I had to go back to AUS for a day or 2 to identify myself. A few days after I posted that, I received an email from AHPRA, which nearly gave me a small heart attack. My case officer informed me that I have to submit proof of identity from category A, B, C, and D (You'll understand these categories when you refer to the application form.) She said that because I did the course in Aus, they will not be able to process my case as an international applicant. I think this might have been a mistake on their side because who qualifies then as an international applicant...There isn't an alternative to doing the course in Aus. Anycase...I freaked out, then I got going again. Luckily I opened a bank account while in Aus, so that worked for my category C&D (Proof of residence). For category A, I had to submit my passport with a valid Aus visa. By the time I received the email from my case officer, my visa had already expired. I decided to write a letter to them, to explain that I didn't stay in Aus yet, and that my visa was valid when I originally submitted my registration application. For Category B, I was able to submit a copy of my ACN student card (Thank goodness I hanged on to it!!!) I submitted all of these...fingers crossed...and waited! I was waking up every night to see if they have sent an email yet, requesting more info...OR WORSE...CANCELING MY APPLICATION (I had a deadline for 29 Aug to submit all documentation in the correct way)..but the finally on the 7th of Sep, I received an email. I was registered as an RN! Whoohooo!!!

I have submitted my application to ANMAC today.

Steps to ANMAC application after being registered in Aus as an RN.

  1. Apply online. (They will send you an application form already filled, which will act as a covering letter for your application) You will have to pay before they send you the application form. R4600
  2. Print application form, and sign in front of witness (Commissioner of Oath, etc...), also attached a passport photo signed by your witness.
  3. Submit certified colour copies of: Identification (Passport and marriage certificate), ALL tertiary qualification certificate & academic transcript, Service Certificates, Current registration certificates (NMBA and SANC)
  4. Arrange for a certificate of goodstanding to be sent to ANMAC from NMBA and SANC
  5. DHL

So that is what I've been up to. I sent all the documents today. Now I have to wait again.

Cool! thats it from me...for today! :-)
